Kate Wagner examines La Source Vive, a 500-seat chamber music hall at Évian-les-Bains in the hills above Lake Geneva, designed by PCA-STREAM under Philippe Chiambaretta with interiors by Patrick Bouchain. Its oval, conical concrete shell was poured over timber formwork, finished in plaster and wrapped in a copper-clad timber outer structure. The late acoustician Albert Xu set most of the acoustic decisions, and a digital twin built with the META laboratory tested seats and baffles before construction, aiming for a reverberation time of 1.8 seconds.

Findings across Design, Arts & Culture, Sound, Collecting, Document & Film, gathered each morning. Picked up wherever they were left.
